Am I Pregnant?

If you’ve recently had unprotected sex, you may be wondering if you’re pregnant. There are certain signs and symptoms your body may experience during the first few weeks of pregnancy that may give you a clue to whether you’re pregnant. Some of these signs include:

  • Missed period
  • Nausea
  • Aversion to certain foods
  • Frequent urination
  • Mood swings
  • Tender/swollen breasts
  • Spotting (implantation bleeding)
  • Cramping

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, especially a missed period, it’s time to take a pregnancy test.

Free and Confidential Pregnancy Testing

We offer free pregnancy testing at our center and can provide you with the results immediately during your appointment. Our pregnancy tests are lab-quality and administered in a private setting.

When Can I Take a Pregnancy Test?

Pregnancy tests are most accurate if you wait one week after your missed period to take it. If you take the test too early, you could get false negative results – meaning that you are actually pregnant, but it’s too early for the test to pick up the pregnancy hormone in your urine.

Once you are pregnant, your body starts producing the hormone hCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, which allows your pregnancy to develop. According to the American Pregnancy Association, hCG levels double every 72 hours, so the more days you wait, the more accurate your pregnancy test will be.

My Pregnancy Test was Positive. Now What?

First off, don’t panic! That might be easier said than done, but it’s important to realize that a pregnancy test just indicates pregnancy, it doesn’t confirm it. The only way to confirm that you are actually pregnant and have a viable pregnancy that can be carried to term is through an ultrasound. We offer free ultrasounds to women who have a positive test at our center. Learn more about our ultrasound services.

You will never have this day again, so make it count.
